Ivan the Terrible

Saturday, August 27

Reader, sometimes we must simply quote the invitations we get—in this case, to a party that Sir Ivan is hosting in honor of Crown Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil of India. “Sir Ivan is hosting the event at his Hamptons castle on Saturday, August 27th from 8-11pm and will also be presenting the world-premiere of the new video for his recent Billboard Magazine Top Ten hit single ‘Hare Krishna,’ being shown on a huge outdoor screen.” Here’s a few pieces of context: “Hare Krishna” peaked at number 10 on Billboard’s “Dance/Club Play Songs” chart in April.  Sir Ivan’s other musical output includes club remixes of John Lennon’s “Imagine.” He is a Penn graduate and studied law at Yeshiva. The 45-year-old Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil is the first openly gay Indian royal in modern history. Sir Ivan dates Japanese glamour girl Mina Otsuka, who appeared at a previous “Hamptons castle” party this summer in gold breastplate and cape to Sir Ivan’s ermine-trimmed robe and coat of arms. Sir Ivan, whose surname is Wilzig, has hosted medieval-themed parties at his imposing Water Mill “castle”; he is a philanthropist and son of a Holocaust survivor. Mr. Wilzig, who appeared on the reality TV series Who Wants to Be a Superhero? as “Mr. Mitzvah,” is sponsoring a “luxury coach” to transport Manhattanites who wish to attend his party. Mr. Wilzig claims the party is being filmed for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network. Including external links, Mr. Wilzig’s Wikipedia entry contains 940 words, nearly twice the length of the entry for Water Mill, N.Y. Meet us there?

Sir Ivan Wilzig, The Self-Proclaimed "King Of Parties," Parties On Despite Hurricane Irene

By Chelsea Burcz

Sir Ivan, the self-proclaimed "King of Parties" isn't letting a little hurricane stop his bash to welcome India's Crown Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil to the Hamptons. The event, which is a benefit to help raise awareness about the fight against HIV/AIDS in India, is also being filmed by Oprah Winfrey's OWN network and the is world premiere of his latest music video for his single "Hare Krishna," is "100%" on for Saturday night. Oh yeah, and it's Carson Griffith's birthday party! Looks like Ivan has a lot of people to keep happy this Saturday night, I suppose it comes with the territory of being "The Peaceman." So, what is crazy guy with a castle in the Hamptons up to anyway?

I got a rare chance to hang out with Sir Ivan during the day, one-on-one. And, let's just put it this way, the man cannot sit still. He has a personality that is constantly high energy and full force, but with a touch of gentle humility. Relaxing is not an option, nor is sleep -- his idea of taking it easy means going to a bumping club until the wee hours of the morning with elaborate costumes and acts, and with his bleached peroxide blonde hair and eccentric outfits, Sir Ivan always looks the part.

He wasn't always this way, though. Once a banker and a lawyer, Sir Ivan left his family business to produce techno remixes of "feel good" love songs, mostly from the '60s era as "The Peaceman." His father, Siggi B. Wilzig was Auschwitz survivor, legendary financier and philanthropist, which is why Sir Ivan is a large contributer and promoter of charities that give aid to victims of hate crimes.

Ivan Wilzig threw a party for the Middle Ages Saturday. The man better known as "Sir Ivan" hosted "Medieval Madness" at his castle in Watermill to celebrate girlfriend Mina Otsuka's birthday, and the soiree lived up to its name.Royal attire was mandatory, and revelers circulated among a cast of characters that only "Stefon" - the nightlifer Bill Hader plays on "Saturday Night Live" – would truly appreciate. A source says the shindig featured archers, a Rapunzel whose 25-foot-long wig hung from a balcony, fire breathers, midgets dressed as trolls, two really tall guys pretending to be ogres and Dina Lohan. Oh, wait, she was a guest.

Dina Gets Medieval

NYPost, Page Six, published 7-18-11, written by Emily SmithDina Lohan played Queen of the Hamptons Saturday night at the 15,000-square-foot Watermill castle of billionaire playboy Ivan Wilzig. In a medieval-style flowing dress, and a flowered veil, Lindsay Lohan's mom even had a cadre of identically dressed young ladies-in-waiting who sat at her feet as she held court and flirted with Wilzig, a k a "Sir Ivan," at his annual regally themed bash. When a young party girl who'd taken the dress code for the fete less seriously passed, Queen Dina barked, "That's not very medieval!"Later, a Page Six reporter uncovered a hidden gem in the castle: a black room with a large swing chained to the ceiling, a cage with handcuffs, shackles and a slew of giant, stuffed bunnies. It seems the chamber is reserved for anointed subjects. "Only the talent can come in here," a staffer told us. When we asked where the talent was, he replied they were "coming later." Egads! Guests at the party included "The Book of Mormon" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
